VISION PEARLS: FIELDING DRILL VIDEOS FOR BASEBALL TRAINING

Below are links to videos demonstrating how to apply Vision Pearls into your regular baseball fielding drills for baseball vision training purposes. Consistent repetition in using Vision Pearls for baseball vision training in these types of baseball fielding drills, baseball players at all levels will develop and sustain better, natural, vision skills necessary for fielding the baseball and becoming a complete defensive position player.

INFIELDER DRILLS

INFIELDER GROUND BALL DRILLS
  • Coach hits Vision Pearl as Ground Ball to Infielder

  • Infielder secures Ground Ball in glove

  • Infielder should identify the Vision Pearl color during the fielding phase

  • Infielder calls out the Vision Pearl color after fielding it (can be while in the act of throwing it to another player) 

  • Infielder should have natural flow with fielding, transferring, and throwing the Vision Pearl

  • Infielder must not rely on identifying the Vision Pearl color by looking at it in the glove or when transferring to throw it
     

Vision Pearls can be adapted into many other Infielder Fielding Drills such as Line Drive and Pop Up Drills.

DOUBLE PLAY DRILLS

Double Play Drills: Shortstop to Second Baseman turn example

  • Coach hits Vision Pearls as ground ball to Shortstop

  • Shortstop secures ground ball and throws to Second Baseman

  • Second Baseman should identify the Vision Pearl color during the catching phase

  • Second Baseman calls out the Vision Pearl color after catching and throwing it to the First Baseman

  • Second Baseman should have natural flow with catching, transferring, and throwing the Vision Pearl

  • Second Baseman must not rely on identifying the Vision Pearl color after catching it by looking at it in the glove or when transferring to throw it

Vision Pearls can be adapted into many other Double Play Drills such as Second Baseman to Shortstop turns, Third Baseman to Second Baseman turns, or First Baseman to Shortstop turns. 

FIRST BASEMEN DRILLS
  • Coach hits Vision Pearls as ground ball to Shortstop

  • Shortstop secures ground ball and throws to Second Baseman

  • Second Baseman should identify the Vision Pearl color during the catching phase

  • Second Baseman calls out the Vision Pearl color after catching and throwing it to the First Baseman

  • Second Baseman should have natural flow with catching, transferring, and throwing the Vision Pearl

  • Second Baseman must not rely on identifying the Vision Pearl color after catching it by looking at it in the glove or when transferring to throw it

TAG AND PICK OFF DRILLS

Tag and Pick Off Drills: Catcher to Second Baseman at Second Base Pick Off example

  • Catcher throws the Vision Pearl to the Second Baseman

  • Second Baseman catches the throw and Tags the Runner coming from First Base

  • Second Baseman should identify the Vision Pearl color during the catching phase

  • Second Baseman calls out the Vision Pearl color after catching and tagging the Runner

  • Second Baseman should have natural flow with catching and tagging the Runner

  • Second Baseman must not rely on identifying the Vision Pearl color after catching it by looking at it in the glove at any time

Vision Pearls can be adapted into many other Tag and Pick Off Drills such as Catcher to any Infielder at a Base, Outfielder to any Infielder at a Base, Pitcher to any Infielder at a Base, Catcher to Pitcher at Home Plate, or any Position Player to Catcher at Home Plate.

 

Besides Tag and Pick Off Drills, Vision Pearls can be adapted into many other Specific Defensive Drills.

 

OUTFIELDER DRILLS

FLY BALL DRILLS
  • Coach hits Vision Pearl as Fly Ball to outfielder

  • Outfielder secures Fly Ball in glove

  • Outfielder should identify the Vision Pearl color during the catching phase

  • Outfielder calls out the Vision Pearl color after catching it (can be while in the act throwing it toward the infield) 

  • Outfielder should have natural flow with catching, transferring, and throwing the Vision Pearl

  • Outfielder should not rely on identifying the Vision Pearl color after catching it by looking at it in the glove or when transferring to throw it
     

Vision Pearls can be adapted into many other Outfielder Drills including Line Drive, Hot Shot or Ground Ball Drills.

 

CATCHER DRILLS

  • Coach/Pitcher throws the Vision Pearl as a regular pitch or wild pitch to the Catcher

  • Catcher should identify the Vision Pearl color during the catching or blocking phase

  • Catcher calls out the Vision Pearl color after catching or blocking it

  • Catcher must not rely on identifying the Vision Pearl color after catching it by looking at it in the glove, when transferring to throw it, or after it was blocked
     

Vision Pearls can be adapted into many other Catcher Drills such as Catch and Throw to a Base, Retrieve a Bunt and Throw to a Base, or Pop Up Drills.
