VISION PEARLS: HITTING DRILL VIDEOS FOR BASEBALL TRAINING

Below are links to videos demonstrating how to apply Vision Pearls into your regular baseball hitting drills for baseball vision training purposes. Consistent repetition in using Vision Pearls for baseball vision training in these types of baseball hitting drills, baseball players at all levels will develop and sustain better, natural, vision skills necessary for hitting the baseball and becoming a complete hitter.

VISION PEARLS: TEE DRILLS

The Vision Pearls' Dots provide visual contact target for Tee Drill vision training.

The Dots on the Vision Pearls allow for vision training and situational hitting training in Tee Drills. Below are 4 Vision Pearl Dot placement options on the Tee for the Dot to be used as visual contact target to obtain desired outcomes. You can use a different Vision Pearl Dot placement position based on your training objective. The Tee can be placed anywhere on Home Plate and at any height depending on training objective.

4 Vision Pearl Dot Placement Positions on the Tee:

  1. Narrow seams are vertical and straight toward catcher or back of home plate. Inside Dot is visual contact target for Basic Hitting

  2. Narrow seams are vertical and straight toward catcher or back of home plate. Outside Dot is visual contact target for Pull Hitting

  3. Narrow seams are horizontal and straight toward catcher or back of home plate. Top Dot is visual contact target for Ground Ball Hitting

  4. Narrow seams are horizontal and straight toward catcher or back of home plate. Bottom Dot is visual contact target for Fly Ball Hitting

Basic Tee Drill

  • Coach places the Vision Pearl on the Tee in one of the 4 positions listed above (or your own position) without the Batter looking at the Vision Pearl to see the color

  • Batter stands in hitting position with eyes toward Pitcher’s Release Point

  • Coach gives "Go" Command, then the Batter loads swing, shifts eyes to the Dot on the Vision Pearl, and swings so the barrel of bat makes contact with the Dot

  • After contact, the Batter calls out the Vision Pearl color: “BLUE”, “GREEN”, “BLACK”, "YELLOW", "ORANGE", "PURPLE"

Batter can also self-place the Vision Pearl on the Tee in any desired position. Batter is working on firming up swing mechanics by consistently making contact with the Vision Pearl Dot with the barrel of the bat.

Hit-Take Tee Drill for Baseball Vision and Balance Training

  • Select one Vision Pearl (GREEN) for the Vision Pearl color the Batter swings at to HIT

  • Batter will not swing at, or TAKE, the other Vision Pearl colors

  • Follow Basic Tee Drill process described above

  • If the GREEN Vision Pearl is on the Tee, the Batter swings to HIT it and calls out “GREEN” after contact

  • If any other Vision Pearl color is on the Tee, the Batter TAKES it (does not swing at it), remains Balanced, and calls out the Vision Pearl color on the Tee.

VISION PEARLS: FLIP DRILLS

BASIC FLIP DRILLS

Basic Flip Drill for Vision Baseball Training using Vision Pearls is described below:

  • Coach kneels across home plate and in front of the batter

  • Batter stands in hitting position with eyes toward Pitcher’s Release Point

  • Coach gives "Go" Command then flips the Vision Pearl into the Hitting Zone

  • With "Go" Command, the Batter loads swing, shifts eyes to the Vision Pearl and swings to hit the Vision Pearl (if in Hitting Zone)

  • After contact, or after a "no swing" and the Vision Pearl passes, the Batter calls out the Vision Pearl color: “BLUE”, “GREEN”, “BLACK”, "YELLOW", "ORANGE", "PURPLE" or “NONE” (regular baseball)

VARIOUS FLIP DRILLS

In these Various Flip Drills for Baseball Vision Training using Vision Pearls, the same concept as the Basic Flip Drill is conducted but the coach is positioned at different places around the batter:

1. Cross Toss: Coach kneels on the same side as the batter

2. Back Flip: Coach kneels behind the batter and home plate

3. Drop: Coach stands directly across the batter and home plate
